Your favourite 50/2 Summicron?

I've had two #6 lenses and did not like either and I am a new(ish) owner of #2 so I voted for that one. I do not like the infinity lock on the rigid but I am trying to get used to it. Lovely lens though.

The collapsible. It collapses, for God's sake, that is too cool. Plus, I can use it on all my cameras. Plus, I can put the SOOKY on in for close ups.

Got my strongly scratched collapsible, a $50 ebay bargain, recoated and cla'd by JvS - it's my favourite 50 since.

Ergonomically, #4, last Wetzlar version is by far the best. Optically, #5 or #6, the current versions because of superior wide open performance with least amounts of flare of any version. By default then, it's the not listed overpriced 50 yr. anniversary version because of the classic look from the 50's, scalloped focusing ring and detachable hood.

I like the latest Summicron. The telescoping hood is super handy. Since this is not the most flare-free lens in the universe, it needs a hood. (The most common flare which mine gets is the hazy diffuse type, which causes images to have that gawd-awful "classic" look, i.e. crappy contrast.) However, like Magus, I wish the hood locked into place when extended.

i'm really glad to see the results here. it looks the DR/Rigid are leading, which makes me feel good about my recent DR pruchase as my first leica lens.

I voted for the first rigid version. I love it on my M3. It performs just right;enough contrast and sharpness. It looks super classic in chrome on a chrome M3.

The Hexanon 50 is in a class above the Summicrons. The Summicron's are OK for b&w, but the M-Hexanon's clearly outperform with color.

My preference is for the chrome rigid. I traded my DR for it since I never used the close focus feature.
