Here we go again.. let's end the year by sharing which photo is your favourite of all the photos you've taken in 2020 - and why.

Please don't confuse this with 'your best photograph', although it might well be.. I think 'favourite' is the more interesting choice!

A Happy New Year to all!

Lynn

PS I know it can be difficult to choose just one favourite over different genres (like portrait, and landscape), so more than one favourite is permitted - but please, no more than two or three.

Don’t forget to say why it’s your favourite!

This is my favorite. After being stuck inside for many months due to Covid and having a new baby to deal with, I was finally able to get out at night to photograph. This was the first "successful" photograph I made after a long absence from photographing on the street...

This is my favorite from 2020 because it was an awakening for me. I learned a lot about this forum and myself after posting this. It took awhile to get my footing but now I get it. I live by three words now "Avoid Meaningless Distractions". And, almost everything is a meaningless distraction. Happy New Year.

I have shot less this year than any previous years because of the virus situation. However, I did attend a Black Lives Matter rally in a small, rural Texas town. Personally, I cannot wait for this year to end. I plan to party tonight, safely at home with my wife. I doubt if we will make it to midnight before falling asleep, but I intend on giving it one hell of a try. Happy New Year, everyone.

This bucolic photo was taken after I was furloughed in May 2020, but was since called back to work several months later.

At the time, I didn't know what my future held, so the peacefulness of the scene contrasted with storm-clearing/threatening skies and the open road ahead symbolized what I was feeling. A sense of calm, peace, but unknown/unsettled future - personally and professionally...

All is well now.

It hasnt been a very photographically fertile year. I mostly focused on photographing the family and revisiting old pictures and re-descovering some that intially went un-noticed.

There are quite a few that i would choose -purely due to family sentiment but if i had to choose one, it will be the picture of the lonely figure in the forest i took one morning in November.

It's not the best shot I've ever taken (and likely not one that I would have thought would have been my best of this year), but I think it's pretty good.

I am not a great bird photographer and will likely never be a great bird photographer, but this opportunity presented itself at Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge on Maryland's Eastern Shore. I spotted this osprey in its nest and watched it fly out and back a few times, each time bringing back a tree branch/twig to build its nest. I pretty much just waited until I saw it heading back to its nest and pressed the shutter button at the right moment. I only took a few shots, but this seemed to be the best one for the spread of its wings, the branch in its claws, and the intensity of its eyes.

Don't think I'd want to mess with this bird!

One of my favorites in 2020. Maybe because it was “covid break” during the summer and I really enjoyed this hot summer day and this unexpected rain which was so strong I had to hide from. Finally it was slowing down and the sun appeared and some people decided not to wait anymore and walk in the rain... I only had cheap FSU Smena 8M loaded with Orwo N75...

My favorite photograph from 2020. We had a severe drought this past year here in NC PA. Streams were at all time low flows! I have never seen these exposed roots of this sycamore tree! I hope to never see them again! The reason I picked this photo is it came out exactly as I wanted it to & thought it would. Plus I used my favorite camera, my Minolta Autocord loaded with Agfapan APX100.

I have many cameras, and many fine lenses, and have made thousands of photographs this year, but this image made with a simple Ansco Memo half-frame box camera from 1922 is my favorite of the year. It gives me a feeling of peace, and that seems important enough to me.

Taken near Times Square this past February. Too thin to print, but saved by the scanner. I like how the elements came together.

For sure not the best and not perfect, even not good enough... Out of focus and blurred. Taken january 2020 when we were not yet aware of the pandemic...one of the last relaxed and joyful moment Simo and I had
