Hey guys, just wondering if you'd share with me your favourite photographers out there. Amateur or professional! I'd just like to see the kind of work that may inspire you and why it inspires you. Thanks for your time! Enjoy this lovely sunday!!

Photography as metaphor. They all create deep narratives they ask us to participate in creating with them. They show the difference between documenting a "scene," and documenting how it is "seem."

…and I haven't mentioned quite a few people here on RFF. Problem is, if I mention some but forget others (quite likely as there are a few who haven't posted in some time, or have left RFF), it may cause embarrassment (to me). The Gallery is a great place to browse..

The best camera is one that still works!
Arbus, Mapplethorpe, Winogrand for street by a fair margin, HCB for composition ....
... and of course lynnb for waves!

Look up Herb Ritts, Hortst P Horst, Irving Penn, Man Ray, Richard Avedon,David Bailey and Cristian Coigny if you like studio stuff and portraits in particular. Ah, I was forgetting, just saw that Mr Putin scored 6 goals in a hockey game, so he is certainly a great photographer too.

Same here but some more photographers whose work I'd suggest looking at, not mentioned here so far as far as I can see, include Alexandr Rodchenko, E.O. Hoppe, Roger Fenton, A.A. Jones (Lord Snowdon), Raghubir Singh, Raghu Rai...I don't (surprise, surprise) do favourite photographers. I like some pictures and don't like others.

Mine are mostly the usual suspects, but I stumbled onto Boris Mikhailov today and really like his work. His style is undefinable, but he has a great eye!

My current favorite this morning is RFf's own NY Dan (AKA Dan Wagner) who has an amazing Blurb book just out. Rolleiflex street photography at it's best!
