Look up Herb Ritts, Hortst P Horst, Irving Penn, Man Ray, Richard Avedon,David Bailey and Cristian Coigny if you like studio stuff and portraits in particular. Ah, I was forgetting, just saw that Mr Putin scored 6 goals in a hockey game, so he is certainly a great photographer too.

From all of those I only knew "Who is Pu" guy.

So far I wanted to return to HCB and Yousuf Karsh only. Maybe, John Free.

And, yes, "Soviet" and now Russian "white elephant is most peaceful elephant on Earth!"

I really like most of the photographers who were part of LIFE during its heyday in the 1950's, 60's, and 70's. In particular, W Eugene Smith, David Douglas Duncan, Alfred Eisenstat, and Margaret Bourke White.

No one has mentioned Michael Ackerman, so I will. Geoff Dyer once aptly described looking at an Ackerman photograph is like looking inside a photographer's head. Ackerman is also a great cure for GAS … I don't think he has ever taken a sharp photo.

There was once a well curated Flickr group called "Sharpness is such a bourgeois concept"....I tend to agree. I like Ackerman.
