Your opinion on Rollei 35 RF?

Dear all,

I am new to this RF world and has been using SLR all this time. Now I have the opportunity to buy this camera w/ CSV 40mm f/1.4 nokton for usd 500. The camera is in working condition, clean viewfinder, comes w/ non original minolta rf strap. Body comes with very minor scratch and the rubber cover in the front is gone and has been replaced by some cheap leather imitation (I plan to replace this with nicer one). Lens is in good condition, comes w/ filter and non-original front and back cap. No box and manual or whatsoever. Is this a good deal?

I use 28mm or 35mm a lot. Would I regret buying this since its widest only 40mm and if I ever change body, the 40mm would be useless since it seems that most leica m-mount camera frameline is 28/35/50. Anybody can throw me their 2 cents on this?

I think this is a good deal for the body and lens. I had one, and liked it very much as I wear glasses and was able to see the framelines very well. If you want the 40 then go for it, but it sounds like you would be better served by something with 28 and 35 framelines. I use a 50 a lot and wanted a 35 rather than a 40 as a wider lens, which is one of the reasons (among others) that I moved on to a Zeiss Ikon.

Well it sounds like a very good deal on the camera and lens from a value perspective, but if you tend toward 28 and 35mm lenses, you are going to be using accessory viewfinders a lot.

There are other cameras and at reasonable prices that may get you want you want more.

The 40 wouldn't be useless on another camera, but without the framelines it would have limitations.

i finally went ahead w/ the deal and find that im actually enjoying 40mm so much. it has a little of the 35mm wide but has little of 50mm close up. im ordering a cv 21mm and its coming soon. these probably the only two lenses i need for now.

the next question then is that i feel that the rf patch is rather small and seems a bit limiting for focusing. but, other bessa Rx also seem the same.

im new to rf world so i probably dont even know what im talking about. however, judging just by the look, it seems that leica and (especially) zeiss ikon has bigger rf patch window. did i get this right? if i get any of these two, wud i be having significanly more pleasant focusing experience?

i just started getting attached to the nokton and wud be dissapointed to have to choose bigger rf patch at the expense of 40 frame line.

what do you guys think?

The Rollei RF is a rebadged Voigtlander Bessa R2 with different framelines, different lens, and different body covering.
