I'm interested if anyone here uses their photographic images as source material for other artworks, like drawing or painting? I'd love to see some examples.

I haven't, but this is something that I'd like to try - ever since Keith suggested it a couple of years ago. I have some abstract pictures of reeds and grasses in mind. If I get around to it and the results aren't too embarrassing, I'll post them to this thread.

I did that. About 10 years ago I painted this picture from the attached photograph:

I'd love to be able to do that. Unfortunately, I am completely cackhanded, and have zero graphic art ability, though I have had sculptures exhibited. Perhaps I should try to build sculpture based on photography. I did bring the two together when I made photomontages (in the style of Kennard and Heartfield, if I can be so bold as to make a comparison) using medium format and photocopiers, but I can't draw or paint.

This is the sole purpose of my photographs - as a raw material for further development (mainly in collage form; the challenge of sculpture is exciting too). May post samples in future though a bit intimidated at the prospect of photographing flat artwork... the specialised lighting; the colour accuracy... brrrr...:bang:

Occasionally I make drawings that I give away as presents at birthdays and the like. I posted this drawing in another thread a while back, but I didn't show the photo. It's more like copying rather than inspiration in this case, but at least the leaves in the drawing were drawn from life.

It's more rewarding drawing from life entirely. It's not so much fun indoors, so hopefully spring will soon bring warmth outside... might get me out drawing a little more often. For those of you who haven't tried, it's quite meditative once you drop the high expectations.
