Your SLR Images

Took my mother's old Spotmatic F for a whirl with a couple of new-to-me lenses. Film is Easypix 200 from Shoppers Drug Mart (aka some kind of Fuji, probably Fujicolor or suchlike).

And the Bushnell again. My first ever film photo with off-camera flash (in this case a Hanimex unit on a Nikon Sync cord). Square crop because I caught the shutter a bit on the left side of the frame... I suspect the shutter is not quite running at its stated sync speed?

I have to say, I find this lens quite crappy.

I just received my AIS version of this lens, which by my research, seems excellent. The AF and AF-D versions are said to be the same optical cell as the AIS. Can't wait to try it out today with Velvia 50, and on our upcomming trip to the San Juan Islands and Olympic National Park. I like this picture very much.

Okay, so I finally bit the bullet and decided to try some Delta 3200 for concert photography. Lighting was predictably awful - shooting rating the film at 1600, f/4 most of the time, I was at about 1/125th o a second which for me is pretty borderline for musicians in motion. Oh yeah, manual focus too, which I am generally pretty crap at. So all told I am delighted with these. Yeah they're grainy, but I like it. 🙂

Artist is Nikki Yanofsky, venue is First Canadian Place in downtown Toronto, camera and lens are Pentax ME F with a M42 Bushnell 135/2.8 on an honest-to-goodness authentic Pentax M42-to-K-mount adapter ring.

I have to say, I find this lens quite crappy.

Interesting how people's views can differ. I use mine mostly for color, but find it to be exceptionally good, with great contrast, sharp from wide open, and excellent bokeh. In fact, it's so good I sold my Summicron-R.
