Okay, admittedly it's not 160NC but here is a recent shot taken with 400NC and I was surprised by how much "pop" it had. I guess one might still want VC for overcast days or shots in the shade but otherwise NC looks good to me. For those who don't recognize it, this shot is of the revamped submarine ride at Disneyland. And note that this is simply a low-res 1-hour photo scan with no adjustments made by me other than resizing to fit rff upload limitations.

edit: P.S. I'm always surprised by how much aliasing noise I see with my uploaded images. Guess that's why you guys always link embed images directly in your postings.

This doesn't look at all like nc to me, not saying it isn't, but the contrast is quite high, I would guess the lab didn't have a portra setting and set it to "Disney Land" colours...?

My reaction exactly, Sam. I'll double check the film strip when I get home tonight. But I have a feeling that you're right about the lab overdoing it a bit.

Okay, I checked last night and yes, the shot I posted above was definitely taken on Kodak 400NC film. As Sam said, perhaps it's just the 1-hour photo place using the Disneyland setting!
