As stated in my other post Today (17march) was the start of a five day Photo Imaging Expo in Tokyo Japan. As an RD-1 User I was keen to get to the Voightlander Booth as well as the ZEISS booth to see their Lenses.
I was able to get my grubby hands on the yet to be released 21mm & 25mm Biogons in VM mount.
I have included Photos taken with both lenses. Sorry that the shots probably don't do any justice to the lenses but the situation couldn't be helped, They were very reluctant to allow me to try the lenses in the first place as they were prototypes and were not ment to be taken out of the glass display.
ALL I can say is that the 21 seemed to be very easy to focus and the Zeiss external viewfinder is very bright and easy to use.
I have also included a Photo of the New Film RF by Zeiss also a very nice camera but I shall not be replacing my M4 nor M6.
Nothing new from Voightlander to speak of.
Mike.

Voigtlander and Zeiss sharing the booth space... ;) Thanks for the report & the pics, Mike! Did you see the 35mm Biogon there?

Thanks for the pictures, Mike. The lens seemed to handle the lighting in the booth very well. Interesting to see a black version of the ZI next to the chrome. I read a while back that there might be a black version just for the market in Japan.

Hi Peter, yes they had the 28mm and the35mm but after I had tried the 21 & 25 it suddenly became very busy, I didn't have a chance to try them out.
Perhaps tomorrow if I get the chance to return to the EXPO!!

Mike

Mike, did you use any vignetting correction on the 21 & 25mm shots? If not I'd say corner illumination looks real good.

-Dave-

Hi Dave, No these images were shot Jpeg and taken straight from the memory card and just shrunk to 25% No image retouching or enhancing done so yes I would agrre with your statement that they do seem to be good in the corners I'm attaching two shots I took a couple of days ago at a camera shop with the Leica 21mm and 24mm I know different situation and Lighting I was trying to decide between the two but I think I will wait for the ZEISS 21mm It felt lighter and it was SO SMOOTH & EASY to focus. I think I'm sold on that lens.....Plus It makes financial sense!!!
