Hi all,

Can I get a Zeiss Opton Biogon 35mmf2.8 for my Nikon S3, I know
the 50mm and up are off a bit, but I read that 35mm and down are
okay.

I have used Zeiss Opton 35 on my Nikon's and I still have a Planar 35f3.5that I use on my S3's. Works fine and even the 2.8 is fine as to "focus" difference. I suspect that the f2.8 aperture covers up some of the shift. The only lens that I had a problem with was a 85f2 Sonnar which was "off" considerably at f2 and f2.8. I have another one of these and for some reason that is dead on with focus!

Here is one taken with 35/2.8 Opton Biogon mounted on Contax IIa, shot on Kodak BW400CN, I think:

Using the Soviet 35/2.8, I can see a difference in focus at close focus when wide open. The difference is small, but it's there.

Some years ago I did a test of various Zeiss lenses on Nikon rangefinders. It is on Flickr and if you use the tag "The Zeikon Project" it should bring up the shots. I tried 21f4.5 Biogon, 28f8 Tessar and pre and post war Biogon 35f2.5 as well as the 35f3.5 Planar and various 50's and 85 f2 Sonnar.
At the moment Flickr is down for some kind of re-vamp, but it should be back up later tonight.
As for image quality, I really like the Planar 35f3.5 and the pre-war 35f2.8 Biogon (though the latter is a bit flat in contrast compared to the post war Opton. Cant bring up any pictures as they are stored on Flickr.

I didn't realize it was in 2007 I shot the Zeikon project. You have to go to the set "September 2007" on our Flickr stream to see the shots.
