Zeiss is going to make a new, improved version of their 21/2.8 Distagon for Nikon, Canon and Pentax mounts. Close focus is about 8 inches/.22 meter!

Really? I saw the thread with the 50/85 announcement, but I didn't see anything about the 21. Pretty cool news for Canon shooters in particular, I think.
This has my interest for sure. I fear the price though.

The 21 would be a future purchase, but I'm seriously considering buying the 50 Planar. It even takes the same 58mm filters as the Canon EF 50/1.4!
It has been on the Zeiss web site a couple days. I recall the announcement there only indicating ZF and ZK mounts to be available initially. Today is the first mention of the ZE in the first release.

Anaway the original Contax version does look a lot better. But lets say beauty is only skin deep.

That is $2,000ish. Of course the E1,400 includes VAT I believe.
We will see when Tony posts it on Popflash.
For comparison:
ZK 18/3.5 $1,450
ZK 21/2.8 $????
ZK 25/2.8 $826

At those sorts of prices, I will stick with my 20/2.8A Pentax lens. I am tempted by the macros and the 85/1.4 though.
