Zeiss Ikon 18mm Lens

I have had the 18f4 since it become available. I really like it, though it is a bit of a handful to carry around. Extremely good performance, very little vignetting and quite rectilinear (if you hold it straight!). I usually pair it with a 25/28 as "wide" walk-about lenses. Also provides a good "narrow" wide to a 12f5.6 - which sometimes can be a wee bit too wide.
If you are going to use it with a filmcamera, get the Zeiss finder for it - nothing short of magical in its brightness.

This is with the 18mm f4.0 and Acros 100 developed in Beutler. It is the "Bean" at Chicago's Millenium Park.

I have both the ZM 18/4 and the 21/4.5 . The images from the former seem to have more pop to them. I use it with the CV 12D finder.

We've been using it since it came out. Frances is convinced it's a keeper. All we have to do is agree a price with Zeiss:

Hi Roger thanks for the link - much more substantial info than in the latest Black& White Magazine where a "Lens review" by Frances was advertised and I bought it w/o flipping through. I was quite dissappointed by the incremental level of info on the two pages. That's not Frances fault but more the fault of the editor who stamped this "lens review" which is plain wrong.
About the lens ... if I win the lottery....😉

It is a fantastic lens. Sharp and produces wonderful files on the M8. I haven't shot film with it yet, but I'm sure if it is any indication of what it does on the M8, it would be a stellar performer on film.
