Zeiss ikon 3D!!

Nowhere as nice as the Hexar RF we saw recently.

The Zeiss has a decidedly cobbled together look to it ... but I'm sure it works!

Haha One moment I thought it is a joke with photoshop, but it is real...

So you need identical two lenses with same aperture values to get the stereo images. Sounds logical...

Oh yeah I didnt see the other stereo cameras at the bottom of the page!!

Ah, then you need double set of all lenses. Guess the lens producers smile all the way to the bank...

If they are true, who's producing them? Who's providing warranty / servicing them? which kind of results can they give back?

I didnt get how the rangefinder works though, the focus rings of two lenses must be fixed to each other for sure!

putting two different lenses would be funny, you cant get stereo images then, just two images with different framing...

I own two of these exact cameras. Once you shoot film based stereo, it's hard to go back to normal 2d photography. It's a sickness... a very slippery slope indeed. And yes, the lenses are linked.

On one body I dedicate a pair of Tri Elmars, 16-18-21, synced linkage on 1) focus, 2) apt. and 3) zoom. Quite impressive stereo images....as Super wide angle lenses were never commonplace on any stereo cameras. This is where the M mount shines. The 35/50 f2 ZM lenses are also superb for this rig. Longer fl's are not very applicable as you must start extending the lens separation, in which case dual cameras with linked shutters are more practical.

RED is producing a 60MP digital stereo rig due end of 09.... $135k... That makes these film based stereo rigs a bargain....

What a shocking waste of two rather stunning bodies. :(

why is it a waste? there are plenty of us who still shoot stereo and none of the old ones have very wide lenses. there is an attachment to make realist lenses into 25mm, but it's cumbersome to say the least.
zeiss ikons also have a meter and AE, and the shutter in them is 38 years newer than the last stereo realist made.
i don't own the zeiss stereo, or any of the other RBT cameras, but i'd never consider them a waste.
