Hi all,
I'm new to this wonderful forum, new to rangefinders, new to medium format and definitely very new to old folder cams.
For some reason, I am hooked on old Zeiss Ikons and have received a Nettar 515/16 a few days ago and am now awaiting for delivery of a Nettar 517/16 and an Ikonta 520/2, all of which I was very lucky in being the winning bidder at very low prices in the large auction portal
.
As I would like to mainly focus on B&W photography, I was wondering if someone knew where to find filter sizes for the various Zeiss Ikon cams.
Have googled quite a lot, but with no success :-(.
Hope someone can help.
Kind regards from Switzerland
Rob

You could try this:
http://www.cameramanuals.org/zeiss_ikon/zeiss_ikon_ikonta_35.pdf
If this is the Ikonta you have, the filters are 27mm screw-in or 32mm push-on.
Not sure about the Nettars.
This site:
http://www.butkus.org/chinon/zeiss_ikon.htm
has lots of Zeiss manuals. Lots of other old camera manuals as well. One of my favorite sites!
Welcome aboard, Rob!

Rob

Yes, welcome! Often, the best plan for older folders is to find Series filters (another topic in it's own right) and adapters. Some of my old folders take push-on 32mm accessories. Some take 40.5mm screw in items. I have several Series 6 adapters that fit on the lens. Then a lens hood screws into the adapter. In between, if I'm so inclined, a Series 6 filter will fit.
So what I have is several adapters, one hood and some filters. The hood and filters will fit any lens with the correct adapter.

Hi guys,
Thanks for the useful information. Didn't know Series filters at all, but with some googling I found this here http://silverbased.org/series-filters/. Seems to make quite a bit of sense. So I'll (again) search through the bay. Or do you have a good source for these Series filters at hand?
Cheers from Switzerland

This ebay seller is one I've used before for old/odd sized filters:
http://stores.ebay.com/photo-widget?_rdc=1
I've not specifically looked for series filters/etc but worth looking through or emailing him, I think.
Not the cheapest prices but I suspect that's more because of how the dollar is doing lately.
Rob
EDIT: he got this one (and a few others) that might work for your Nettars:http://cgi.ebay.com/32mm-push-fit-slip-BDB-lens-hood-nettar-/230605099811?pt=UK_Photography_VintagePhotography_VintagePhotoAccessories&hash=item35b1229323

That's cool, thanks for the links. Looks like just about the right store for me. Will consult and probably buy some filters.

Just bought one yesterday! It has been sitting in an antique store for at least five years, and I even looked at it a while back, but didn't buy it because the shutter was jammed. But since I have worked on a couple of shutters, I decided to go ahead and get it to replace my Ansco Speedex. So now I have a light tight bellows, and an accessory shoe on top. And it goes so well with my 6x45 Ikomat 520, and 6x9 Ikonta C 521/2. Especially since they all three need repair
