Hi, I have bought a Zeiss Ikon Nettar which is in good condition mechanically and doesn't have any Zeiss bumps, the main problem is the black paint on the casing is peeling very badly, I have removed most of it but I can't get to remove it inside the lens and bellows housing without removing the front cover.

Everything seems to be riveted together, any help on how to remove the cover would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry I can't help you. I also have a Nettar (6x6) in good condition, but the paint flakes off the metal. Seems to have been painted onto aluminum without the proper primer.

Do you have a plan to re-do the painting, better than the original?

Re paint.

Re paint.

Hi, Thanks for the reply Bernard, I've done it now, as best I can, most of the paint came off easy by scraping it with sharp edged wood and/or a tiny plastic scraper, then I lightly rubbed it down with very fine wet and dry and polished it with Brasso, it looks good in my opinion, better than the original :D

Mine is the older one the 518/16 with the square cover over the viewfinder, I took the top off yesterday because the shutter wouldn't operate and was very surprised by the poor build quality, I thought Zeiss was renowned for the high quality of their products :(
