zeiss ikon shutter sound

The hexar RF would be comparable to the g2, minus the focusing of the lens

Agreed. I do think the Ikon is louder than the Hexar or the G2, which seem pretty similar. Working from memory here tho- I've not had a G2 & a Hexar and an Ikon at the same time. Sounds like a job for some group at a meet-up.

Personally, I like an audible shutter sound. I figure people already know that I am taking photos when I hold the camera up to my face or wind film when shooting from the hip. There just ain't no stealth about it.

I have been photographing with my ZI during church services, even a few funerals. That click does not seem to bother anyone.

I have found the same, Bob. Lots of folks noticed the G2 and turned their heads because modern cameras for the most point don't make those sounds any more. The ZI makes a noticeable click if you're listening for it, but people don't seem to register it if they're not.

Somebody should tell those guys in Hollywood.. Oh, wait, they're the same guys who make you think that an X-wing in the vacuum of space goes 'whhhooooshh'... Hopeless I guess.

I actually found a website once with shutter sounds of many cameras, including Leica M's and Zeiss Ikon. No idea where though.

I hadn't shot with my ZI for a while until today, when I put 2-3 rolls through it. It's a totally different sound than my M7. I like the M7's soft "pop" sound, but I don't mind the ZI's "clink."

If I'm hearing either sound it means I'm holding a wonderful camera and am shooting film. Therefore it's a good sound.
