I have a 18mm distagon that developed the "wobbles". Having heard too many bad stories of the Zeiss repair centers (and out of warranty), I want to find someone who can re-tighten the mount and clean the internals in the US.
Is there anyone you can recommend? I've went to Sherry before for Leica CLA with very pleasant results, but don't know if she'll open up Cosina-made glass.

Check with Sherry Krauter. She worked on my Zeiss 28mm.

I don't want to imply that Sherry is not a good alternative, and I understand it is out of warranty, but why wouldn't you send your lens to Zeiss USA? I have heard good stories of their work.

I've sent lenses to Youxin Ye for repair/CLA- very inexpensive and relatively quick.

Some of my friend have had lens sent in and returned virtually unrepaired...and they charge full regardless

Hi,
Are you referring to Tocad for your Y/C optics? My experience with them has been excellent. For some of the older lenses where parts are simply no longer available they will notify you and give your lens back to you. I had several of my lenses go to Japan to Kyocera where just one of nine lenses I sent in were deemed not repairable (35mmF1.4 AE West Germany). That was due to no spare parts on hand.
If there are no spare parts on hand, the best option to to try to buy a similar lens to use as its own unique spare parts. The other option would be to check with Nippon Clinic or Mark Hama as both have either spare units from which they can attempt to build up a parts workable unit for you.
Are you referring to the newer Cosina manufactured Zeiss? I don't any of these optics, so I can't speak for them in fair defense.

Yes. Mine is the Cosina-made Distagon 18mm f4 ZM.

Send it to the guy who runs this forum. He sells these lenses and repairs them.
If the "internals" just have a little bit of dust or something like that, just tighten the "wobble" and leave the inside of the lens alone.
