Can we see some pictures from this lens? It's like a mysterious treasure that has not been expose to the mass 😀.

And shouldn't we put a sticky thread for pictures from this lens only :-/

Here was from the original.

This one is an Opton Contax RF version adapted to the M8. I'll post a short series maybe next week with more shots at higher res. Looking at the Optical diagram of the ZM 2/85 it sure looks more like a Planar than a Sonnar :?

BTW: there is a nice looking Opton 2/85 finishing on ebay today. Price still looks good 🙂

I like it's signature, but for the price.......I'll stick with some less expensive option, like Hex 90/2.8. How does the lens handle? Too front heavy? Well balanced?

The Hexanon has a pleasant look, but not bitingly sharp (as with the Hex 50 f/2). The Zeiss is heavy and feels solid (hood is huge), sharp and contrasty.

Please don't think this is a troll - it's not. But why would I want this lens instead of the Nikkor P.C or the original Zeiss 85/2?

I don't know - because you collect Double Gauss designs, maybe ? 🙂
😀 yeah maybe, but you know me - less than 25% of the lenses I use are DG. The rest are Sonnars/Ernostars. And to paraphrase my Harley-riding bretheren: "if it ain't a Sonnar, it ain't s**t." 😉

For me I used it with Rollei 35RF (Voigtlander R2) it is well balance with my left hand holding the lens.

There are some good images here.

Indeed that it seems to be a slightly less common lens partly due to the cost/size. It's always tough to justify a new one seeing that I have already had one Nikkor 85mm 1.4 in hands.

Gas just never stops.

For me, though I'm not in the market for 1 right now & am a diehard Sonnar fan, would be that: (1) it's modern, w/the latest multi-coating, etc., so more flare-resistant, which can be a big deal for those situations/places in which I would likely use a short telephoto (e.g., concerts/shows); & (2) it focuses closer than the old Sonnars (& does better @ close distances than the modern Leica 90mm Summicron ASPH).
