I had heard that Ilford films have less overlap than others. I shot a roll of Pan F. I actually had real space between the frames! I did the usual of starting film a little over from the actual start point. So, I the 12th frame got cut off. But, now I know that I dont have to start Ilford films as far over as usual. Anyone else found this to be true?

I have found that Agfa and Ilford tend to have better frame spacing than Fuji in my Super Ikonta III. I think it is due to film and/or backing paper thickness. I wonder whether different spools can have a similar effect too.

My last film through my Super Ikonta 534/16 was Ilford Delta 400 and all bar the first three images had overlaps. Modern film is too thin, I just need to work out the formula for bulking out the empty spool by enough. I'd rather have 11 or even 10 images with no overlaps than 9 with...I may be some time!

My Ikonta III is new-to-me, and the problem hasn't been consistent so far. There is the suggestion that a piece or two of post-it sticky notes taped to the leader will thicken the roll and space the shots out. I've used this and it seems to work okay. Remembering to do it is the harder part.
