Zen Camera

" When you load film into your camera, just load film into your camera."

Wow, I'll bet you studied with Minor White!

No, just paraphrasing a humorous zen anecdote I once read somewhere:

Head monk instructs a novice: "When you drink tea, just drink tea"

Novice later encounters monk drinking tea while reading a newspaper, and is told "When you drink tea while reading the newspaper, just drink tea while reading the newspaper".

John, I got the strangest feeling when I saw this. So did my wife. He is my doppelganger at that age. Congrats on a very nice shot too.

Thanks Lynn. I am striving to improve my portraiture. He is a lovely lad with boundless energy. I won his trust by talking about his favorite toys. I had his undivided attention for all of a minute. Long time when you are 4 !

"...your most Zen camera?"
I have to say my 5x7 Deardorff. Every thing fell perfectly under my fingers under the dark cloth, i could make adjustments without looking. Eventually i didn't even notice that the image was upside down. It was that transparent a photographic tool. I can't really say that about my current Chamonix 4x5, as good as it is. In small cameras i'd say the Leica M2.

"The only camera you will find on the top of the mountain is the camera you brought with you"

for me it is any leica M with any 35 summicron or summilux pre asph
