Nice move from Nikon, bravo! ISO & shutter-speed dials like the Fujifilm XT3 has, no more fiddling with buttons/thumb-wheels as in the case of the Z7II that I have. Dust and splash water resistant, very good for hiking. Unfortunately, almost the same weight as the Z7 II, 705 vs 710 g, which makes it too heavy for hiking.

This really tickles my fancy. Internally, it's an upgraded Z6 II with autofocus and processor from the Z8, plus the joys of 10bit 4k footage with n-log colour profile for optimal colour grading. Eight stop IBIS, gorgeous SLR styling and control dials, this looks incredible. If I wasn't so heavily invested in Panasonic which I need for paid work, this would be my gateway into the Nikon Z system. It could even be a standalone camera with one or two small primes. Voigtlander makes some juicy Z mount lenses based on their recent M mount offerings, like a 35mm f2 APO, 65mm APO and 15mm Super Wide Heliar, and Nikon even have some pancake/semi pancake lenses.

Given how M mount lenses seem to play fairly well with the Z6, the Zf might be another useful option for using M mount lenses. Of course, there are a huge number of legacy lenses which this can use, from old Nikon primes to Contax, Leica and up to last gen Nikon DSLR lenses. There is a lot of fun ahead for buyers of the Zf.

The Z bodies are the best non-leica mirrorless cameras to use manual focus lenses with bar none. You can adapt M lenses with no issue or use the native voigtlander Z lenses with them and they're a joy to use like that. Only thing missing was the traditional control layout, and now we got it!

I'd like to see Nikon release a screw-drive adapter for all us Nikkor AF-D lens owners!
(otherwise this looks like a very nice camera, even if it's a bit bigger than the original FM/FE, going by the pictures).

It would not surprise me at all if Voigtlander sees an uptick in Z mount sales after the Zf is released. They need to do more marketing to let Zf users know what they can get!

I bought Nikon’s adapter, but it doesn’t bring much to the table for manual focus lenses. I have a few different third-party adapters for other lens types, they all seem to work fine.

The new Zf is very appealing to me. I'd love to see Voigtländer make versions of their SL-IIS lenses (28, 40, 58, and 90mm) with the old school early 60s Nikkor design for this camera.

Don't get me wrong, I've been using fuji's since they first introduced the x-pro1 years ago and love them. But for adapted lenses the Z bodies win, on the point that they are the correct format for the legacy lenses. It may not be a big deal for you, but my nokton 35mm f1.2 on a Z6 is just so much more lux than being a slightly large and heavy 50mm f1.8 equivalent on my x-pro3.

I used this same Nikkor 3.5cm f1.8 mounted on my Nikon Z6 a few years ago, and it was incredible.

It looks pretty sweet. Although I'm a crusty old fart who wishes it was designed to take old manual focus Nikon F lenses right out of the box, without that clunky adapter. But I'm sure Nikon's target market is not me.

Looks like a nice body. The "retro styling" means it will likely fit my hands well, as the cameras it is styled after fit my hands well.

But that said, I have a complete kit of high end cameras, both film and digital, that perform beautifully. I sold all but my 1961 Nikon F and two/three lenses years ago ... I neither have any motivation, nor funds, nor desire to go re-buy my favorite Nikkor AI series or new Nikon series lenses.

I think I've aged out of the GAS cycle. I'd rather invest what little time and energy I might have left into using what I have and maybe making a decent photo or two. 😀

Have one, though mine is black. Like it. Wish the body was a tad smaller, and the diopter adjustment didn't get knocked around every time it comes in and out of the camera bag, and wish the sensor was a bit higher resolution. Otherwise, it's perfect. And I love using my old non-AI and AI lenses with it.

But am amazed with how easy fast/manual focus lenses are to use with the Nikon Z5.
The Zf has the same finder. I have a lot of lenses to use on it that cannot be used on the Df and M9/ M Monochrom.

I like it. It would be easy to develop a case of GAS over this camera. I do like older Nikon SLRs better and I have a few dozen lenses for them and more than enough bodies to last me forever.

Capturing full color at each pixel should allow the camera to produce some good Monochrome images, essentially similar to a Foveon sensor used to produce monochrome images.
