ZI good choice for 'stealth camera'?

Discretion has as much to do with the photographer as with the camera.

And for the record, I think the avatar in question is a pretty darn brilliant photo.

Dan, you're funny!

Thanks for all the replys- and thanks for the comments on the Avatar- 6 weeks today and I think my son is still having a bit of a fit with us for taking him out of there!

One of the things that I thought might be a nice help with the ZI in quick shooting would be the AE- might be useful for getting off those waist held or super quick shots w/o having to think about correct exposure.
The finder seems to be a big pull for me- might have to drive to Chicago to actually hold one....

I would agree that if you plan to spend this much money, you should definitely try the camera. I bought a Luigi half case, and like most cases, it does muffle the shutter sound a bit.

The shutter isn't that loud. You'll find some shutter sounds on my site review of the camera (http://elekm.net/zeiss_ikon/). I like the camera a lot.

The AE is an excellent option to have, and it helps that the camera is well designed. There are times when you simply have no time to double check exposure settings. Just lift and shoot.

The electronic shutter release is very nice. Overall, I have no complaints (aside from my specific problem and being without the camera for five weeks).
