ZI users - what's your experience been with long, fast lenses at close to minimum focusing distances? Compared to other bodies, specifically the CV R2A or R3A? Could you post some images? Thx.

How long and fast?

I found it better with the 90/2 but the difference was detectable even with the 50/1.5 as compared with an R2.

How much would pics tell you, compared with verbal information? Unsharpness can be due to a number of things, and failure of focus is a statistical problem, not one that can be summarized with either/or tests. SOME 90/2 shots are sharp with the R2; others aren't.

Cheers,

R.

Well, I can tell you that the ZI compared to an 0.85x M7 is faring as well, or actually often better, because of a better VF and approximately equal ebl. The ebl of the R3A is only around 75% as long, and the R2A obviously is shorter. As far as the real sharpness obtained - I feel it depends also on other factors, like the intensity of the light, and proper centering of the eye in the vf.

I have used both the 75f1.4 Summilux and a Canon 85f1.9 with the ZI body and have experienced no problem focussing. It works as well as these lenses on my 0,85 M6TTL. Problem is the finder frame with the 75f1.4 = it brings up the 50 frame. I tend to use a VC 75mm Bright Line finder with it (and also with the 75f2 and the Heliar 75f2.5 - though on the latter I just put it on a 90mm adapter and use the 85 frame in the ZI). It even works well with my $20 Jupiter 85f2!
