Any reason back alley or just wanted something different?
when i got the rd1 i thought i needed something wider, like a 25.
this was before i had the rd1 figured out in my head.
the zm 28 was a great lens, seemed a bit under appreciated by many, but i think people compared it to the zm 25 which is an exceptional lens.
but now, i'm happy with the two cv 28s that i have...big and small, fast and slow.

I just picked up a copy of this lens when I was in London a few weeks ago for work. I really like it; very nice rendering and clearly a different style than the Leica or CV lenses.

Here's one from my 28/2.8 ZM that makes my entry into today's 'Rangefinder Chronicles' blog

I shall do a comparison between the Zeiss 28/2.8 and the CV 28/3.5 , as well as the the old CV Ulton 28/1.9, which I have, on my blog at some time in the future - must do some comparisons between the Zeiss 50mm Planar and Leica 50mm Summicron, as well as between various 35mm lenses, first

I've had the lens for about a week now, and I'm absolutely amazed by it! Here are some pictures, taken with a Leica M8:
