Hi i recieved my first 2 range finders in the mail today, a voig vito cl and a petri 7.

How does one know if a photo is in focus with the voig? is it zone focus? and if so how do you use it

Or use fast film and stop the lens down. When zone focusing you focus the lens by turning the focus ring placing the infinity sign on the correct fstop on the DOF scale. Look at the other side of the scale to see the minimum distance which will be in focus at that setting and be sure you subject is at least that far from the film plane when you fire the shutter.

And it doesn't have to be infinity either, you could opt to have, say everything from 3-10m in focus. Just find the aperture and distance combination that gives you that ability. You'll be surprised how many subjects fall into this zone. Now you have a point-and-shoot camera with options. I'll often use my M6 with a 35mm in this way.
