I have a Zorki-Zorki, which I serviced and it works very well..
I also have a very late (55) Zorki 1e, which is technicaly in better shape, has a LOT quieter shutter and could become a great shooter...
However the 1e only had 1/25 1/50 1/100 while the Zorki-Zorki (a 1c base?) has 1/20, 1/30, 1/40, 1/50... A lot more to choose from for low speeds, and I tend to use these a lot...
So would you think I could just move the speed ring (the one with the holes) of the ZZ to the 1e to make it work ? Or could I possibly add (one or two) extra intermediate holes in the ring ? There must be LOTS of room there...
Also the ZZ has a much nicer vulcanite for the body... Hmmm.....

my autofocus is broken.
Something tells me it's more than just the ring, and that the entire mechanism is a little different.
However, I'm no expert, so I'll need someone to confirm/deny.
Just a thought

The shutter speeds on these things are so imprecise that even if you moved the shutter speed dial from another camera, you might never notice the difference.

What if you put the dial from a bessa R? Then you could fire your Zorki with 1/2000th!!!!
just a thought, I am no expert either.

There is an insignificant difference between the 2 ranges of shutter speeds.

Yeah I know, but there is more choice in the first. I like choice, choice is good
It gives me the impression I'm in control, otherwise I'd use an auto-whatsit-with-antishake

Wouldn't it be easier to just use faster film?
I normally don't give 'Wouldn't it be easier to' comments, but Frankenstein shutter speed mechanisms give me the jitters!

Strange your 1E has a quieter shutter. I've always "found the "Zorki-Zorki" models to be superior in workmanship and quieter if properly set up -- better finish, too. You probably could switch the shutter speed disks--most parts through the Zorki 1 series are interchangable (except for the bottom springs which were changed in the D and E models). My motto is Never junk a Zorki Zorki. It is the most sought-after model of the Z1 series--except for the 1948-49 models.

Well this Zorki Zorki has been bastardized already. The body is from an earlier "3 screws" -- but a "hard" one... So the top plate of the zorki was filed off to make place to a third screw that was... glued ! However that body has the "old" finish that is miles better than the plasticy one from the 1e...
So that ZZ is a good shooter, but I wouldn't feel bad "reorganizing" it's insides.
And yeah, side by side, my CLAed ZZ is nice, but quite a lot louder than the 1e... That 1e is /smooth/.
I also noticed that the 1e with it's "new" spring at the bottom (no longer a blade) requires more pressure to trigger...
Well maybe I need a third one to make sure...

Oh well, had to happend! Found another Zorki 1 that looks like a 1e, but with all the speeds. So that would make it a 1d ? And as a bonus it has a nice collapsible Industar 50 ! Yummy!

Received that Zorki, it's a 1D it seems, in great shape, with the "slow speeds" and an Industar 50. I think that one might become my shooter! Oh it is also a LOT quieter than my Zorki Zorki, similar to the 1e.
Off it goes on the cleaning tray
I'm beginning to wonder if there is something wrong with that Zorki Zorki of mine, it makes great photos, but the shutter is way louder than the other Zorkis I now have (1 & 3)...
