Zorki 3 Test roll warning multiple pics!!!

Okay, I have had this camera for a while, but have yet to getting around to putting a roll of film through it. I know, I know... I need to take a vacation... Anyway, I got it developed and noticed a lot of problems right away. There seems to be a lot of light leaks. I was not using an ever-ready case. I was shooting a fire. I was shooting towards, but not into the sun. I still, obviously have some light leak issues. Some of the clouding(can't think of a better word) has me stumped. Here are the pics.

Taken at DFW at way too early an hour, during a trip to Austin on wednesday... the return trip was 6 hours later:bang:

These were taken Friday morning at a multiple alarm fire in a small town nearby. All of the fire pics were take between 10:30 am and 12:00 pm. The lense was a 'new' Jupiter 12. Settings were around f5.6 to f22 with shutter speeds ranging between 1/1000th and 1/50th

Hey, aren't you the lucky one, probably three light leaks!
Looks like a hole in the curtain, an intermittently dragging curtain?? and a possible bag full of normal leaks. One question, which of these marks extend into the film rebate. A suggestion. Run some film through, leaving a frame loaded for a while but not exposed (shoot with the lens covered etc.) similarly wind on whilst deliberately allowing light into the lens, then again without. Be inventive, tape up some of the joints in the case, move the film on...Make good notes. What you find will help enormously in tracking them down. Most information will come from "blank" frames.

Otherwise it needs a trip to Oleg for new shutters and a light-seal check. Maybe cheaper to get another?

I actually have some new shutter curtains. I am just a hesitant to completely strip the Zorki. If I sent the camera and the shutters to Oleg. I may also disassemble the J12 and add some black paint to the edges of the glass. Overall, I was happy with the performance of the lense and the camera. In looking at the negs I believe that I have more of a problem with the light leaks than the lagging shutters. I will perform the shutter/monitor test and see what I get. The camera has never really been apart nor have I done more than clean the viewfinder.

A large % of the J12 flare problem is the ground glass bevel on the rear element, only a few of the glass rear element J12 have the bevel painted!
It is an easy fix if you have a steady hand.

Yeah, the bevel at the back of my J12 is painted. I found a bunch of pinholes in the first curtin. I couldn't see any in the second curtain and I looked long and hard. I think that I am having a problem with the back not sealing properly... like there is a correct way with an FSU camera😛 I will just keep plugging away and see what happens
