Hi All,

Any ideas as to who would be the best person in the UK to give my Zorki 3M a CLA and replace the blinds?

Thanks in advance,

Michael

I don't know whether he is still in business but Roger Lean is an expert at repair of Soviet cameras. I think he used to work for the UK importers T&OE.

It's your choice of course, but sending one of these cameras in for work will cost several times what they are worth, as it's so much cheaper to just get another fsu, most people just try to fix their own.

I would agree that it is usually cheaper simply to replace a defective FSU camera of the common sort such as a Zorki-4 or a Fed-5. The 3M however is not easily found in good working condition and at a cheap price.

I should be able to do most of the CLA myself (happy inside Leica IIIs and Kievs) but I would need help with the curtains...guess they are not available?

Thanks for the tip, I will try Roger Lean first.

I've just done this exact job on mine and it wasn't too bad at all. I made the curtains from fabric I got via John Neal (member on here). Ask him where he got it, or I can. It's a really nice double-layer material. I didn't go for the ready-made ones as they use crimped laths, which the originals don't.

Just be sure to mark exactly where the curtains and tapes meet the drum and cut your new ones to the same length. I glued them with Evo-Stik, readily available in the UK. You could use most of the Zorki 4/4K guide I wrote (in the stickies) and ignore the bits about the flash-sync switch etc, the rest of it is very similar to a 4/4K.
