Hi,

I'm looking to buy a half case for my Z3M, the seller states that the case will be fine as long as the 3M is the same size as a Leica IIIa, does anyone know if they are the same size? If not is the 3M the same size as any of the old Leicas?

Also is the Z1 the same size as any of the Leicas?

Thanks.

The Zorki 3m is a good bit larger. It is closer in size to a Contax or a Kiev.

Look for a Zorki 4 case. I have one in an original case for the 3M, and another that i put in a case for a Fed 5. I just moved the retaining screw.

Hi Brian, thanks for the reply, I do have the original 3M case but I find them a bit too bulky, my 3M is not that much bigger than the Z1, just a little taller, do you think its similar to a Kiev?

The 3M is noticeably bigger than a IIIa and certainly won't fit. It's about 9mm wider and 3mm deeper. As Brian says, a 4/4K case would fit. The Zorki 1 is the same size as the Leica II that it is a copy of (and also the IIIa and b AFAIK).

Well, this shows why it fits in a Contax case!

The 3M looks like a Barnack Leica, but is closer in size to a Contax. I use a Leica M3 case for my Contax II.
