Zorki 4 focusing???

I have this Zorki 4, and the fine focusing lever under the rewind knob just flops around. Is this normal? I wonder why it should be so lose. Once I fine focus the view finder using this lever, the vibration from the shutter then throws in out of focus. Maybe I should shim this with a bronze washer-spring or something? Is there an adjustment I can make by taking things apart? Thanks.

Fine focus lever?!?

It's the diopter lever for us poor sods who wear glasses.
Mine isn't loose, but you can fix the lever with a piece of felt as greyhoundman said, or maybe set the diopter to your settings and add a drop of PVA (white glue) to hold it in place. Plus when needed PVA peels off without leaving residue or making a mark.

A small piece of a rubber band pushed under works nicely as well.

The felt trick is the easiest fix, but you can makean internal fix by removing the rangefinder top cover. The diopter lens is mounted on a sliding track. the lever moves it forward or back. The "feet" that fit into the track can be adjusted by bending them slightly. Or, you could try a friction washer under the lever.

On the Zorki-4 there seems to always be some play in the diopter lens. It typically shows up when the shutter curtain slams shut and everything in the viewfinder jumps.

True and good point. Especially those wide rubber bands the post office use to hold letters together.
