Zorki 4 info needed

I just bought the camera from Kuvvy today. I read the online manual, and it seems full of do nots. 🙂 I hope I remember the don't change shutter speed until cocked. Loading film also seems a little awkward, but I guess it make more sense when I get the camera.

Mainly just wanted to say I have caught the FSU bug as part of GAS. My grandson needs a TS clearance in the U.S. Navy, hope this doesn't interfere. 😛 I am retired Navy also...seems funny to be buying gear from the Great Bear we looked at with binoculars all the time those many years ago. My earliest sighting of them was through U.S. optics...a periscope. 😱 We understood even then, it was the system, not the people we were against.

Loading is quite easy since the entire back comes off. It's a little like a Nikon F only the take-up falls out every other time.

"...every OTHER time?" Man! You must have a good one! My take up spool needs a wrist strap!

Na, jwcat, you'll enjoy. At my age, fishin' a take up spool from behind a truck tire once in awhile is needed exercise. I'm havin' a ball with my Z4. The little film loading/shutter speed changing quirks just make it that much more enjoyable.

You might find interesting some of the history behind the Zorkis and Feds at this sight. It kind of puts their "character" in perspective.
