Hey everyone. On sunday I'm teaching my friend how to do film photography. I'll be teaching him shooting and B&W developing and printing. He will be using a Pentax Spotmatic, and I'm wondering what camera I should bring. Its either the Zorki or the Nikon F5. What do you think?

Zorkii. It's closer conceptually to the Spotmatic -- simple, all-manual -- and the only important difference (apart from RF/SLR) is the meter.
It's also less intimidating.
Cheers,
R.

I don't understand what you mean by 'less intimidating.'
I guess I'll be bringing the spotmeter then!

I agree with Roger. Bring the Zorki. Do you have a hand held meter? If so bring that also. If not, sell the F5 and get one.

I have a Pentax spotmeter V, but it is pretty large, thats why I got the F5 mainly. The AF/Auto expoure also are nice.

Look at it from his point of view.
You turn up with a huge, butch, all-singing, all-dancing SLR. He will immediately have an excuse (in his mind) for any failings. His camera 'isn't good enough'.
You turn up with a camera that's even simpler than his. If yours is good enough, his is even better.
Rather than a spot meter, I'd bring a simpler reflected-light meter for much the same reason.
Cheers,
R.

The meter in the Spotmatic is broken after a fall from the tripod.
The spotmeter is the only hand held meter I have.
Since I'll be bringing the Zorki[because of your advice] I'm asking him if he wants the Nikon or the Pentax.
