Zorki 4 serial numbers?

Does anyone know if the Zorki 4 serial numbers were prefixed with the year of manufacture, as some other Soviet cameras were?

First 2 digits are the year of manufature., example: 78xxxxxx would be 1978.

That's interesting, mine is marked started with 56, which I presume is the first year of manufacture, I was suspecting such, as all numbers are engraved, not painted, thanks for the info.

Some of the first Kiev's were made in 1947, the russian used just about all German parts on these camera and had the face plate engraved Kiev I belive in Cyrillc.
The year on your camera could be 1/1250 or 1/1000, the main change would be the top speed going from 1/1250 to 1/1000 in 1977.
