Well I shot my first film through my Zorki-4K & Jupiter 8 combination, just to check everything was working correctly, however I've nothing to show as I hadn't read the manual on rewinding and managed to rip the film out of the spool (by not turning the knob round the shutter release to the correct position). Doh!

One thing I did notice in use is that the rangefinder alignment is out on the vertical axis - how easy is that to adjust?

It didn't actually seem to take that much force (I haven't used a manual wind 35mm camera for a few years though), however I'll be more careful in future! I've RTFM'd now so hopefully won't make the same mistake again.

I was shooting test rolls through a couple of new (to me) cameras - one was 35mm (the Zorki) and the other medium format (Pentax 645) - it seemed quite odd that the medum format camera was the one with auto-wind and built in metering while I was using a hand-held meter and winding manually for 35mm.

Look in the top of the FSU forum, there's a sticky on how to CLA the Zorki 4/4K. You'll find how to adjust the RF in there. Unfortunately you will need to take the top cover off, unlike a lot of FSUs. It's not difficult, however. You'll need a set of jeweller's screwdrivers and a pin or needle. Read the thread but you can obviously skip the bits about removing the flash-sync switch and slow-speed mechanism and so on. Please heed the parts about the wind-lever spring, if it flies out it can be quite nasty.

I spent five minutes trying to figuree out how to rewind my newly aquired Kiev 4am. Somewhere in the back of my mind the solution was found by remembering a RFF thread. I had to unlock one of the bottom locks. Once the film was out I checked and found a very simple interlock.
The world of RF is certainly an interesting one.

I'll need to get better at doing it as I've just landed a cheap (£14.50) Jupiter 12 on Ebay and having a 35mm mounted on the Zorki should see it getting a lot more use.
You'll love it, they're a great lens and a very useful focal length. Yes, you did get that cheaply! They have a reputation for flare so be aware of it. Perhaps because I've heard this, I've never had flare with mine though. Enjoy!

If you want a hood try heavystar or americaneagle camera, about £5 plus shipping, from the usual site
