zorki 4k first impressions

And NOW I've heard from a friend who has the Zorki 4 (not 4K), that you DON'T have to cut a leader for the camera!!! He indicates that the camera isn't a "bottom loader" so the leader isn't necessary. I wonder if someone else could confirm that on here?

I can't see why the Zorki 4k would need any special leader trimming from a commercial roll?

Here is a larger image of that sunroom. Not a great photo by any means, could have used a gradated ND filter, or polarizer, but does show the quality of the lens contrast.

My guess is that the Zorki's VF/RF is just large which makes it bright, probably doesn't have the flare control of fancier stuff, but it works great for quick focusing.

Attached is a slightly larger image of that sunroom. Too bad the upload doesn't accomdate about 200k more, then I could upload the whole roll, or at least 3 at a time of the best pics instead of the ones that fit fast.

I'm sort of repeating myself, but I REALLY think the sunroom pic tells a lot, not only about the lens, but about the ability of the photographer. It's only probably a "test" image, but still rings with nice tonality. Again...the range of light values is enormous here, but the darkest area down near the floor STILL has enough oomph to show the tile structure in that deep shadow! A testament as well to the range of print film.

Nice work indeed, and the results of your working with the Zorki are superb.

It was just luck that it came out interesting. I did just finish reading a few books on exposure, and immediately realized it was a difficult shot and took a few different reflected readings with a sekonic hand held meter, then just took it, but wasn't consciously thinking about anything except when my BK Veggie would be ready.

I have another very contrasty photo I just mindlessly took with the Hexar doing all the work that I'll attach in a sec. Thanks!

I'm stating this with all alacrity, that this is also a VERY nice shot, especially considering the huge range of light. Again, the detail in the darks is especially nice, and the brights are close to "blown", but really nice in this case. The composition is balanced, with the linear perspective showing me the way into the image.

In all truthfulness, your images that I've seen are extremely well taken. Pleasing and balanced, both in light values and in the element of the composition.

I would love to see even more work.
