Hi my name is Ľuboš and i am a biginner photographer as I read I discovered that Zorki is an ideal camera to learn how exposure ISO F stops work in addition zorki makes sharp and nice pictures. So i have bought one from Ukraine from a guy who is repairman of old watches and cameras. Camera was in good shape. I have read how to operate it so i always clock the shuter and so on. But now the shuter dial is completely broken i dont know why. It only stops like at few speeds i could not turn from 1/4 to 1 second and i pushed it and i think even the courtain or how its called does not open. I can turn dial from 1/30 to 1 i know its wrong but it was very easy. I think the 1/30 to 1s stop moved to a diffrent position its all misalignment. And the curtain just shuts at the same speed and i think it does not open. I want to fix it myself couse it can happen again but i dont know what the problem is and if its even repairable i am a student but i am ready and willing to invest some money for the right tools. Thank you and excuse my english not native speaker.
Thank you for any help.

It sounds like the clockwork for the slow shutter speeds may be stuck.
It also sounds to me like the shutter dial was set before the shutter was cocked, as otherwise the notch on the dial will line up with the numbers.

I am pretty sure that i clocked it but i dont know maybe i made a mistake. I will try to take it apart. Any tips what should i look for exept not loosing or misplacing any screw? It sounds like the clockwork for the slow shutter speeds may be stuck.

99% from FSU simply lies to you about what was done with camera. They do next to nothing. The only person I trust from Ukraine is Yuri. But he is in the war zone.
Any FSU camera is worse tool to learn photography as of now. It was best back then simply because nothing else was available if you were stuck in FSU.
Any lens could take it sharp and beautiful if it is normal lens.
Ditch it, ask for money back, ask for return, get rid of it. You will learn nothing with it. You just purchased it and it is already broken. This is normal state of FSU gear
Get EOS 300 and any EF prime. This will work and this will allow you to change shutter speed and F stops as well.
But best way to learn exposure is with digital. This is how I learned, but never with film.

If it is from him, it should works for sometime without major issues.
He is the only one whom I know well, who does real CLA for FSU gear.
I have Zorki serviced Yuri. Cleanest VF I ever seen. Came to me from the person who switched to Leica.
Unfortunately as any FSU it was not capable for regular daily use. I have to deal with uneven exposures even with his Zorki after less than one year. It is nice display item now...
Comparing to this I had Leica IIf which was keep on working. I made big mistake by selling it. Was chasing M by selling of all I have...

Thats why i bought from him. Best reviews videos showing the real product. Very nice person i would not return it its not Leica fo 800€ not working he deserves the money not his problem that I am lame I knew what i was buying.
You see as i said we learn by our mistakes. If it lasts 100 slide films or 20 doesnt matter it is nice colectable.

There's little to no difference in quality between a 1960's Zorki and most 1960's Japanese cameras. I know because I repair cameras as a hobby and have been inside many different cameras from many different countries. This not to say that the quality is great, but I think many have an over-inflated appreciation for Japanese quality, which the facts just don't bare out when you start taking them apart.
My Zorki 4 has been working fine for the four years I've had it. I'm glad you solved your problem with yours.

My opinion of Zorki 4 is that they have weak parts. I like the Zorki 3M better, and the Zorki 1's best.

Just enjoy shooting your Zorki 4, I have had decent results from mine and replace it if it breaks down.
