Hi
I have just bought a Zorki 4 and have a query that I cant seem to find an answer to so wondered if you could help.
Under the shutter speed dial is another dial with the numbers 0,5,10,15,30 and an arrow on. What exactly is this for and how does it operate?
I have got a photo of what I mean if it helps but cant work out how to post it here!

Welcome to RFF, hoddy and congratulations on your Zorki 4. The lower dial is to set the flash synchroniser. In the days when your camera was made (it must be an old one if it's marked with those numbers) there were different types of flash bulbs and possibly electronic flash available. Flash bulbs require triggering a moment before the shutter opens fully, because they don't reach full brightness instantly. Those numbers are to set the advance-trigger time and are in milliseconds.
If you do use flash bulbs, the manufacturer should specify the delay to set. For electronic flash (which is more likely nowadays) set it to zero. If you don't use flash, just ignore it and don't worry. Later cameras are just marked with an X at one end and M at the other, X being for electronic flash, M being for bulbs and in between being guesswork!

Thanks Wolves, I just couldn't think of a reason for them being there!
Its great fun being back to basics like this. I have just retired so have some time to play and turn my back on digital!
