Hi,
I am resident in the UK, West Sussex, can anyone recommend somewhere locally where I could take my Zorki K4 for overhaul/repair?
Regards & Thanks, BP.

Any competent camera technician who can repair a Leica can repair a Zorki but the trouble is that the cost of the repair is bound to be similar and most Zorki owners would balk at paying that much for a camera that is still going to be worth a small amount even in perfect working order. The alternative is to learn how to fix it yourself or send it to one of the people in the former Warsaw Pact countries. Oleg Khalyavin (OK Photocameras) has a very good reputation and although I have not used his services, a person on ebay called emjaybe can have Feds and Zorkis serviced in the Ukraine at reasonable cost. He is an Englishman who has business in the Ulraine.I have bought cameras from him and recommend him as a person to buy from. My brother in Ireland has had good service from a person in Slovakia who trades under the name of cupog on ebay. Generally I have the impression that it would be cheaper to buy a replacement in good working order from one of these people than to send the camera off for repair.

Thanks snapper, I note what you say and I'll get over to eBay to see what is on offer. Have not looked to hard in the past as fearful of what might arrive in the post but now you have given recommendations I will take a closer look.
Regards, BP.

I note that emjaybe's user name is actually emjaybe63. He seems to have mainly watches on sale at the moment but usually has several Feds and Zorkis. If you message him, I'm sure he will quote for a repair.

+1 for Oleg - great work at reasonable prices

He also has cameras for sale that he will have sorted out before advertising them - could be worth a look

Hi,

They are nice cameras, best to get it serviced by Oleg who has the right parts available. He is very good and we all ought to try and keep him in business as reasonable, specialist repairers are a rare breed.

No one should judge cameras by what they paid for them, btw. What it's worth to you is the true value.

Regards, David

If you intend to buy from Ebay, here is another recommendation for emjaybe63. I bought from him and its condition is as advertised.
He put a smile in my face as he included a note about setting the shutter speeds after cocking the shutter.
