Zorki S Help me please

Dear Users,

I am not a newbie, but sometimes I have no idea ...

I have restored an old Zorki S but now I am faced with an other bad problem - the rangefinder calibration.

As it is written in many websites, first You have to do ist to set it to a closer distance (1m) and calibrate it.
Then You need to set the lens at "infinity" and recalibrate it again. BUT- My Problem is - 1m DIstande works finde and infinity mode works also - but when I am pointing it on an objact which is 2 meters away, I get different values :-(

It will be even worse - when I am zooming on an object 8 metres away, it shows me, that it is 10 metres away.


PLEASE tell me how to solve this problem - and sorry for my bad accent - I am from Germany.

Denis,

You calibrate the close focus by adjusting the foot which follows the cam on the lens. Here is a good reference:

Okay - Now its a little complicated --> I have tried those sites ! But somehow although the rangefinder is looking quiet proper at "intinity" and "1m" it gives me still wrong information on other closer distances like 2 m or 3 m --> Is that OK ?

Maybe I don`t need to pay attention to those numbers ?

The other thing : I use the Industar-22 and it has a small black stick on the objective, which is intented to be moved to the distance You want --> 1m or 2m ... BUT - it`s bright is 2 mm ! So do I have a tolerance or should I place this small blackpainted indicator right in the middle of the range values ?

A OK Thanks - I found the section and I am glad to read the same things I made !


OK - adjusting the sensor head is a creepy procedre, cause in my case, it didn`t help at all (OK - maybe a little bit).

I also realized, that the lens doesn`t need to be pointed exactly at the "infinity" mode !

Something between the 20m and the "inifinity" will do it, too , cause You won`t really realize the difference at all.

I have a standard usual calliper and I could set it to EXACT 28,8 mm - please tell me how to place it on the cam, so that it is really precious - pleeeaaase!

Measure from the front of the lens mount to a piece of film on the pressure plate, try it in several places. I wouldn't worry too much if it's not absolutley exact, take some pictures unless it's a long way off 28.80mm. Then decide...
