BUT what is the lower setting [red arrow ] should it be on the spot it is for the upper dial and if I move it to the other spots is that 5th 10th 15th 20th and 25th of a second? If that is the case, does the top one need to be on "B"? why would there be two 25th settings?

It has to do with the PC socket for the flash. For electronic flashes, it should be on 0. For M type flash bulbs, 25. It has to do with the time it takes for the old bulbs to burn their brightest - It times the shutter to coincide with this.

so leave it at the ZERO spot and save the flash shots for the canonet or Bessas
