Does anyone know if it is possible to fit a Zorki 4 with the fixed take up spool from a FED 4 or 5?
Rob

The spool isn't fixed in the FED 4 and 5, it simply doesn't drop out like the Zorki 4's does. They drive and are retained differently and the answer to your queston is no. Putting a FED 4 spool into a Zorki 4 allows it to fall out just the same, with the somewhat inconvenient downside of no drive either.

Some late Feds have slotted cylinder spools which are fixed. However the Fed-4 cameras I have seen have had conventional push fit spools.

My mistake, you're correct and I'd forgotten about that style.

From looking at a Zorki 4 and FED 5B, I suspect the fixed, slotted style cannot be fitted, although I haven't actually tried it.
