Has anyone tried a Zuiko Auto-Zoom 35-80mm F2.8 on a digital body and if so what results have been obtained. I have a new unused one which I have not tried yet and am not sure whether to keep it or not.

I have a Zuiko ED Digital 12-60 F2.8-4 which I use on my Olympus E5 and am quite happy with it.

measured MTFs are available on Photodo.

personally, in your shoes I would sell it given its condition. it is a good lens, but you'll get a premium for a NIB example. if you want, you can pick up a clean user and pocket the difference.

On a Canon 5D:

There is obvious barrel distortion and vignetting at 35mm, so I would not use it as a replacement for a 35mm prime lens. But, once you get past that, it is beyond good. There are examples on the web.

I bought the last hood that John Hermanson had for this lens. It's a tiny little thing. It reminded me of a bikini - it doesn't cover much, just enough.

It's one of my favourite lenses ever, perfect for adapting to digital, I use it mainly as travel lens on the GXR-M, had used it on the nex7 in the past, and on a 5D classic before it., it's biting sharp from 2.8 already, and gets even sharper down the road, exp. on the GXR with no AA filter, the shapness is much crisper than on any other digital adapted before.
I had 2 copys of it, sold one recently to fund some other things. I wouldn't ever part with the last remaining copy I have. besides the 90/2, 50/2, 21/2, the definite superstar in the OM zuiko lineup.

compared to todays plastic crap, this is of serious built quality, full metal, smooth aperture (8 blades afaik), also It's future proof, no AF, no electronics, just wait until sony pulls out a Fullframe nex and see what happens to the prices.

the buyer of my recently sold copy has basically glued it on the the M, the only zoom I know with primelens like bokeh transition.
