Wow, so that is current market price. Item number: 200721525726

I am still hurting after losing mine due to botched repair attempt.

Oh if I could only turn back time.

I was watching that one for entertainment value, but was not surprised at the final price. Rare lens in any mount.

Hmmm, the aperture blades look quite oily.

And according to some results I've seen from this lens, this is not a very good performer till you close it to at least f/4 so this is not something very interesting - an Opton Sonnar 50/1.5 will always produce better images.

Of course there are some good reasons to be angry against yourself when you botcher something having a potential resale value of about $5,000, whatever it can be.

Let's consider it as a masterpiece of optical engineering.

Such an aperture could be necessary to anyone in need to take pictures in available light only so, he could accept a relatively inferior overall quality/sharpness.

If one usually takes pictures in the daylight (so, let's say at f8 to 16 or even 22), a 3,5 Tessar can be perfect, or the less expensive Sonnar 50/f2.

Anyways, the Sonnar 50/f1,5 is a wonderful lens.
