Getting new clothes tonight. Resting my scraping hand right now. For those of you that have scraped vulcanite I'm so sorry, for those that of you that are thinking about it I'll pray for you. No wonder Superman was so afraid of it.
 
Cool. Cool lens too.

A recommendation: that brown stuff (old glue) can be cleaned off nicely
with Goop Off (basically Zippo fluid) that you can buy at Home depot.
Makes the new skin sit better, too.

Thanks Roland, I had a little of that stuff here. With some scraping an some goop I got most of it off.

Robin I've done some other cheap cameras but never a good one like an M3. Removing the vulanite was the hardest part.

Replacing camera skin is kinda like wallpapering: You make a big difference right away. Very nice job, Michael. I've done both my M2 and M3 with dark brown lizard embossed leather.
 
Is that "grip tack" or whatever it's called ?

If it is, please share with us how it feels.

Thanks everyone, Frank I had thought about other types and colors but opted for black leather. I've always used CameraLeather but this time I decided to try AKIHIRO from Japan.

His shipping was super fast and it fit like a glove. There are absolutely gaps or anything. I've never had skin fit so perfect. I still like Camera Leather but man AKIHIRO's stuff is nice.


Roland, I'm watching Bill Oreilly's head explode. He's such an idiot. I forgot to add it's very soft, it looks like vucanite but has a softer feel. Doesn't feel slippery either.

Dress as well as your money allows, but not extremes of fashion, good quality, but not gaudiness, for the clothes often proclaim the cam.
 
Thats a really neat job you did! I'm sure superman would be proud for that m-3 to hang off his neck. Happy shooting.:)

Ah, that looks great, part of me really wants to send my M8 to get reskinned with something grippier but still traditional looking.
The other part can't stand the thought of being without my M8 for a couple days much less longer.

man cm do it yourself, it's easy. Well putting it on is easy, getting the old off is a booger. Crispy vulanite flying, it could put an eye out.
