Coding non-Leica M Mount Lenses for M8 use?

Anyone with experience coding lenses such as the Rokkor 28mm and the Hexanon 28mm or 50mm lenses? The flange can be changed on the Zeiss ZM, but what about the other lenses?

Appreciate it if someone has some info on this.

Using the site as recommended by Uwe_Nds, I did my Zeiss 28mm 2.8. I had to grind a groove into the mount, apply matt white paint, and then an area of black representing the two black marks. Applying paint directly to the barrel i found did not work, as did using a permanent marker, because the marking were quickly rubbed off. Also the Zeiss has a mounting screw that has to be covered with white. Pretty it ain't, I know, but it works a treat

I coded my Hexanon 50/2 with a sharpie and it works fine. The only problem is that the Konica lens mount metal is more polished than Leica or Zeiss's material and the Sharpie wears off very quickly. The approach you have taken gets around this, obviously. I couldn't tell the difference between photos taken with the Konica coded as a Summicron 50/2 gen III (11817) or the gen IV (11819, 11826) so I left it as the gen IV, which was what I coded it as the second time.

I know this site. However, I'm looking for a more permanent solution (non-marker). I know that JM can mill the recesses, but in the first place, can the flange be taken out without any damage to the lens? Most of the lenses have no warranty, and while there is a huge body of knowledge on the ZM lenses, there is almost nothing on the rest of the others.

But for the ZM, the mount can be taken out in the first place. It can be milled, drilled, changed, filed, etc. But what about say the Hexanon 28mm? Is this the reason this lens is never tested on an M8 with the others like the CV?

But you might use a "dremmel" (forgive the spelling) which is an electric rotory tool that can engrave, wood or metal. If you know where the indentations need to be it "shouldn't" be too difficult.

So far I've been using lens mounts/flanges that can be removed and sent in for milling, so I haven't see the need to be so adventureous.

John Milich (jm@milich.com) will mill the pits in your lens flanges for $25. Just unmount the flange and mail it to him and you will get it back in about a week. I did this with 2 of my CV lenses (the 40mm & 25mm). My 75mm is LTM so I purchased John's LTM-M adaptor which has coding pits already milled into it.
 
Thanks. Am I right to say that the lens flange can be removed without any damage to the lens, without any focus issues once put back? I know that CV and ZM have no issues (even then, there is the warranty/repair available). But what about the Hexanon 28 or 50 for example? Or the Rokkor 28?
