Diafine in Oz?

No problem ... by the way having you quote me the exact numbers is the way to go as I can go straight to Freestyle's site, search that number and it takes me straight to the item and I add it to my already bulging cart ... saves navigating through all the other dilectables. :p

By the way ... I'll PM you when the stuff arrives because I'll need it here to work out each person's freight share by weighing the items to calculate the percentages and then add the cost of forwarding it to you. I wouldn't really know how much to charge you accurately yet! :)
 
i wanna thank marty (freakscene) whom i met today. marty was kind enough to give me a box of diafine (which i will mix as soon as i figure out how much a quart is in metric!) to try out. it was also the closest i have ever been to a leica as marty was carrying his MP. ; )
 
You're too kind. A quart is 946.4 mL, or thereabouts. If you put it in a 1L bottle you'll need a few marbles to minimise the airspace. Make sure the marbles are clean before you put them in.

I realise that this thread is about 6 months old, and I'm sorry to 'revive' it but I face a similar dilemma to that of the original poster! I'm wondering if anyone know of anywhere in Australia that stocks diafine, or if not if anyone would want to do a group buy of sorts from Freestyle?

Unfortunately I don't really have much experience with buying stuff from overseas so I'm probably not the best person to organise it, but I'd be thrilled to partake in one (their b&w film prices seem quite tasty too).

If this is the wrong place to post this, sorry and any direction further would be cool.

Sam, Keith up in Queensland has organised a couple of group orders from Freestyle in recent times the last a couple of months ago. Send him a PM so he can get in touch with you if he is doing another in the near future.
 
Yep I went in with keith and a few others for a group buy a while ago, got some diafine from keith, is great stuff. I'm going to try rodinal next, but diafine is definitely worth a go. If you end up organising something with keith let me know, I need some 35mm :)

Let me know if you want to try some rodinal ... I have some 125ml bottles that I thought had gone missing in the post then turned up after I bought a 500ml from vanbar. I can spare a couple and a 125ml bottle will do a lot of film at 50:1 ... :p

I'll probably gt some more stuff from Freestyle in a couple of weeks ... but will post a thread of notification a few days before I do so! :)

While I wait, where's a good place to buy the other chemicals - fixer and washer? Should I get them from freestyle as well or is there an easier way?

That'd be great if you can spare them. My local shop hasn't had it for 4 months, despite my inquiring every 2 weeks or so. They're also out of fixer so I might order some more of that and some film again. will watch out for your thread.
 
I get most of my stuff, including Agfa chemicals, papers and film from Les Porter. He often has stock that's not listed on his website, so it's worth phoning him to ask what he has or can get. Delivery in Oz (at least the East Coast) is usually next day.
