Any support for another weekly imagery thread?

Starting Sundays every week, so as not to clash with 'Most Viewed' (Saturdays) or 'Gallery Picks' (Mondays).

Every Sunday the thread starts and people add photos they see during the following week from anywhere except RFF. Photos by the greats, the not yet knowns, from news media, entertainment, sport...

Clearly would hardly ever know whether these photos were made with a rangefinder camera or not. But if all stick to the sprit of rangefinders (and close cousins) so don't mention the ultra close ups of bugs, or the long lens photos of winning goals we should survive.

Perhaps the posts could be structured along the lines of our Gallery Picks?

We mention photos as and when we see them during the week, and maybe discuss them too.

Two questions:

1 Who's in?

2 Who will be the thread starter each week?

Definitely I am in.

As for the thread starter, after a few weeks any one will be starting.

Cheers,
Ruben

We need a thread starter.

It's not rocket science.

Just start the thread every Sunday and make certain you don't mess up writing the date in the thread title!

Vounteer?

My original post was only ideas over coffee, and can probably be improved.

Please do run this imagery thread as you see best.

I'm looking forward to next Sunday - unless you'd like to start the Sunday 9 December 2007 thread today (24 hours late)?

Jon, you know I like images. I'll participate on an "as possible" basis.

Regarding this concept of a photo, what about someone choosing a photographer and their gallery it could be Adams, Bresson, Evans or someone at flickr. Everyone takes a look at the work and discusses the body of work that is publicly available.

This might be interesting because then we are looking at the evolution of a photographer , the subjects they choose and move away from, the changes in style they develop as they go through a year or a career.

I'd imagine there would be divergent opinions and that could be very interesting because I might see why people don't like photographers I do or vice versa I might also get insights into what some of these photograpers 'drivers' are because some of us may know intimate details of their careers such as assignments, employers etc.

Anyway I'm in in heart if I can't always be in in body.

Thank you for your great idea.

I appreciate you don't always have the time to participate in the weekly imagery threads, but thank you for your enthusiasm in imagery.

This 'Body of Work' idea could be a slower more considered discussion than the weekly threads as people put their own points of view and find new sources and new information over time.

Why don't you pick a photographer and point us towards websites and books where their work can be seen, and then you just keep on eye on things?

I'll certainly be there if it's one photographer a month.

December 2007: Henri Cartier-Bresson. Starts December 2007, no end date.

If you build it they will come.
