So I am very much so considering recovering my black chrome m6, if only for shallow reasons.
Anyway
I really like the look of the dark brown leather in the a la carte line but have yet to find something from say cameraleather.
Does anyone have any reccomendations I should look at for a dark brown?
And I welcome any comments on the matter
Some examples...
(I might like it a little darker then that, but that's close)
and the middle one there...

Yeah that's kinda funky hah, I'm actually not a fan of the texture personally but I do like the way it looks.

I have used the Goatskin range from Cameraleather on a couple of cameras and it really is superb. Why not go for the "Walnut" http://www.cameraleather.com/colors/walnut_kid.htm
Something a bit more exotic would be the Dark Brown Lizard. http://www.cameraleather.com/colors/dark_brown_lizard.htm
Failing that, cut your own. If you get stuck I could let you have some calfskin and it would be relatively easy to dye it brown.

Thanks Kim! actually the walnut on CL is the cloest one I found to what I was looking for but I kind of want a more leather'y feel and less texture?

I don't think you can get a more "leathery" feel than the goatskin that he uses.
As to the texture, it is almost flat. The cheaper composite leathers may be slightly smoother but only just and the feel is nothing like as nice as the goat.
I did a Spotmatic in the black goat. http://www.pentax-manuals.com/camgallery/gallery6.htm In real life, the grain is not quite as noticeable in the picture.

O then that's definetly going to be something I'l reconsider.
The other one I like on CL is the Saddle Tan covering.

The saddle tan and similar leathers are not what I would put on an M6. They have a plasticky feel to them. When I had a problem deciding, I asked Morgan to send me a couple of samples. It took a while and a couple of reminders but I did get them and it helps.

Ah ok, I wish I could see more pictures of the walnut covering. It seems like the best choice right now.

Lizard and Snake look and feel great on the M6:
I really like the black Lizard. Not too loud. YMMV

Hah Roland those look great but not for me, personally I'm not a fan of the skin coverings personally.
I really like the second one, or maybe it's bertha
Bill, I checked out that site but couldnt find anything that I was looking for.
Nice prices though!

Through the a la carte site...just pretend it says M6.

I second Roland's suggestion of the black lizard skin. I've seen and handled his M6 with that covering and it is very nice. That's what I would do were I to recover my M6.

Sorry, Carl, I posted before seeing your comment that you're not a fan of the lizard skin coverings.

I got a M7 recovered with goat skin leather, dark brown. I hated the color and the feel. YUK! The problem with leather is it's super smooth in real world but once stuck on a camera it has the most horrible feeling: Slippery with an unconfortable touch.
I changed for Griptac Black and I couldn'T be happier. The tactile experience is to die for. I give a lot of importance to the feeling in my hand. I love winding the film, fiddling with a camera and rubbing my thumb against the chrome. Griptac covering is it for me!

Griptac is very nice. Feels a bit like the Barnack shark skin.

that's something I will take into consideration Ned.
The M6 is not my main body so I kind of want to hang fun with it.
I can always change it if I don't like it.
