For those who recall Allan Sherman's 'Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh' I posted a new blog entry that begins with this parody:

Goodbye Leica, hello Bessa
Some say more-a, some say less-a
I say ‘Phooey’ to the stress-a
And go shooting with my inexpensive Bessa

LOL good for you, and quite funny too. I'm going the other way. Got to list my R2A shortly as I'm getting my first Leica.

Gee, I will be glad to say hello to Gene's good bye very shortly. :D

ah, so that's the m2 you bought.
i bet it's a nice one then as gene is good with his gear.

i sorta like not having anything leica...

Well done Gene.

I have my Domke F6 with kit waiting. M3 in Zhou case and Luigi strap, 50 Summicron mounted and ready. The Canon 35/2.8, Luigi Case, Gordy Wrist Strap, and mini soft release wait for the M2. Nikkor 85/2 and meter also in the bag waiting for the new arrival, and lots of Tri X and Plus X.

wintoid, enjoy your switch to Leica. They're beautiful machines!

Rover, it sounds like the reception committee is waiting! I'm glad to see it'll be well looked after. I'm eagerly awaiting a Nokton 40/1.4 SC to use on the R3A.

Joe, it's been awhile since we bought any of each other's gear. Must be about time!

gene, i've kept most buys to new stuff lately, except for a filter, a finder and a 40 rokkor.
i might have a cv 35/2.5 for sale if the new 35/1.4 is to my liking but then you will have that fabulous 40/1.4...

Joe, our problem is that we've both gone upscale :)

I recall the beginnings of RFF when most of the buzz was around using the Canon QL17 vs the Konica S3. And when FSU cams WERE the upscale ones, LOL!

It was a lot of fun, and we've all grown more sophisticated over time. Those little fixed-lens RF's were great shooters.

Were great shooters? :D

Here's a shot with my 35SP, new TMY, Rodinal/Xtol

They are wonderful cameras. Underrated by many mistakenly. I will be using a couple of generations new as my wide angle camera rather than a second body. I remember when the PHD generation came out and a lot of the PJs in NYC were using them as a quick extra in their pockets.

Who won the S3 I hope?

Great entry, Gene. :) I can empathize with worrying about shooting with a Leica, but I'm not there yet. Just about every RF camera has given me some degree of dissatisfaction, except my Leicas. When I'm worried about carrying my M7, I switch to my user/beater M4-P or the CLE or the HRF.

Gene, Todd: Don't mourn for the good old days; according to Mark Twain, we are living them now. Or something like that. No doubt a Twain expert will correct me if necessary.

I am not worried to carrry any camera, also not the M7 with my new Summarit 2,5/75mm.

I believe the consensus was that the S3 was it, but it was hard to find one.

Robert, good for you -- take it everywhere and enjoy it. There's no anti-Leica sentiment in my move. I enjoyed the Leica experience enormously, but, for personal reasons, I felt it was time to move on.
