N.O.S. New old stock of Nikon rangefinders and accessories found in Camera Shop in Cairns Australia. Lenses ,bodies, hoods and filters, some items are still sealed .

I will have some photos in the next 24 hours.

All right, this is what we all dream of finding! It occasionally happens. Many years ago a local hoarder with lots of money "decollected" and died. He left behind a garage filled with unopened boxes of Leica stuff. He had a standing order, any new lens or body - send it and if it was available in chrome or black - send one of each!
I picked up some pieces, including a chrome 90mm 2.8 Tele-Elmarit, in box with unfilled warranty cards and correct hood. Highly collectible so I immideately turned it into a M2 and a scruffy black 90mm 2.8 instead!

Time to finalize that plan for a large withdrawal, without the proper forms, from a bank. Why did this have to hit between gigs!! $!#@#*@(&@#*(&!!!

Pictures from Camera Shop in Australia. Lots of Eye Candy to devour.

I even had the chance to check out the "back room stock" even more goodies.
Now the bad news the the entire display is earmarked for the P.M.A. show in Australia sometime in May and will not be available for sale untill after the event.

Yes it,s true some of the stock is still sealed, there are two SP2,s that have been opened but are unused same for a 105 and 135.

The photos look good, but since we're talking about gear from a camera store in Cairns, which is in tropic Far North Queensland, I'm interested to know how the gear was stored all these years. I'd expect anything that wasn't properly stored to have fungus to some degree.

And some more pix.

And some more pix.

Just a few more.

My intention was not to show the size of the stock they are holding but the quality of the items on display. If size or quantity is important to you I have been informed that the total stock holding of Nikon items is in excess of 3000. This figure does not include rare documents such as Nikon inter office memos and some interesting prototype items.

No wonder the gentleman in the photo is smiling so brightly. Cairns of all places. You just never know do you.

Ok, now that I've seen the pictures, I like to ask some questions.

Are these stuff from a stores' new stock that was never sold?
Is this store closing?
Is everything new?
Any used stuff?

Are all 3000 Nikon items Rangefinder vintage?
I can count less than 10 Nikon RF camera bodies on display, are there others NIB like the 2 Nikon SP's you mentioned?
Are there any Black cameras?

That's NOT a Nikon finder Bill, Nikon never made a turret finder.

We need more pictures and more investigations :)

Can someone explain, in layman's terms, the world of collecting to me. Is there any difference, really, between some guy owning one of everything Nikon ever made and some woman owning one of every Lladro figurine ever made?

I like well made things. These old cameras are fun to use, a pleasure to hold and beautiful to look at. But....

...I really don't understand collecting.

Kiu, do you think that the turret finder might have been from that "other" company whose name I dare not mention for fear of being banned?
